La Banane

Hotel "La Banane" is an institution on St Barts.

To write a fresh chapter in its history, the hotel’s new owners wanted to break away from the traditional styles adopted by luxury hotels and define an innovative experience. They have combined their passion for collecting and interior design, paying tribute to the great names of modernism.

Original works by Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Serge Mouille, Jean Royère and even Juliette Derel form the highlights of an ever-changing tapestry in each room.

Here, the wild nights of Jean-Marie Riviere, the big name in French cabaret and original owner of the hotel, still respire. For his friends and family, the inventor of L’Alcazar and Paradis Latin, had an archipelago of nine bungalows built around a central body, and enclosed in the intimacy of a tropical garden. In the center of the pool lies a small island that has become the symbol of this place, along with the of Paris nightlife scene that than blew to Saint Barth.

To create a true “maison d’auteur”, the owners united a unique collection of furniture. In between a “tropicalism” suggested by its surroundings, and the passion for modern lines, the amateurs sought to share work created by Pierre Jeanneret for the capital of Punjab, Chandigarh, and built by Le Corbusier.

In a blink of an eye, the nine rooms of the house, divided in two categories, each carrying a name of one of its artists, define a language based on comfort, quality and esthetic sense.

Hotel Director, Benjamin Fabbri, together with his staff, assure that each stay is unforgettable and that every guest feels invited to partake in the infinite pleasure of an island.
